My view is that in truth the real division is not between liberals and regulars or York Rite or Scottish Rite but between English speaking countries and Latin ones. By this I mean that in the UK for example LDH is a liberal order in the sense that it has moved with the times and accepts women and atheists but in the British Federation the approach is spiritual and esoteric and there is absolutely no politics whatsoever. The exact opposite is true of the Spanish Federation of LDH to give one example. And the same happens with many other liberal orders. I was privileged to attend a meeting of the GODF which I know in Spain can be very political but that here in the UK was very moderate. This international conference will occur on March 23, 2014 next to UCLA and I will write more about. Irish Brothers and Sisters should consider attending.
