The Symbolic Grand Council of the Spanish Symbolic Grand Lodge (GLSE) has ratified the result of the elections for Serene Grand Master of Obedience, proclaiming the office is to go to Sister. ·. Nieves Bayo Gallego, who was re-elected for another three years, 2015-1017.

The Grand Master will be installed by the General Assembly of the Order which will take place in Seville on June 6.

The Spanish Symbolic Grand Lodge (GLSE) limits its territoriality to the Spanish State. However, as decided by the General Assembly, it may permit the formation of Lodges under its auspices in other nations where there is no liberal Obedience, or in the case of Lodges expressly wish to work in one of the official languages of the Spanish State.

The GLSE's Rite of Obedience is the Ancient and Accepted Scottish, and in this Rite all work of the Obedience is performed. This does not preclude that  the individual Lodge level, the use of other rites may not be authorized.

The CEHME (Center for Historical Studies of Spanish Freemasonry) International Symposium on the History of the Spanish Freemasonry
will take place in the north of Spain, in Gijon, September 10-12, 2015. As of today, REHMLAC will be providing all information Regarding the organization of this unique academic event. Since 1983, under Professor José Antonio Ferrer Benimeli leadership, and now under that of the Association's Chairman Professor José Miguel Delgado Idarreta, CEHME has organized 13 symposia.

Bringing together an international cast of leading researchers, for over thirty years, updating and opening new lines of transdisciplinary research on the subject of Freemasonry that is about to celebrate its third century. The XIV International Symposium on the History of Spanish Freemasonry encourages scholars to share experiences and conclusions on the contextual framework of "Spanish-Portuguese and Latin American Freemasonry: From Absolutism to Democracy. (1815-2015)".

The French Rite: A Great Unknown For Some

I recognize the complexities that result from trying to find answers to the multiple unknowns that our Order poses for us on various levels - historical,  symbolic,  philosophical,  social ... I am amazed at how unknown the Modern Rite is for some.
We ignore or forget that they are one of most ancient of the Rites that were used by the "moderns" and I always try to avoid the contagion of titles that resulted from the anxious maelstrom of fashion in the last quarter of the eighteenth century.

Developing the " fons et origo " of our Masonic ritual inheritance in four lines, is almost a mission impossible in the context of communicating within a framework which mixes history, fantasy, reality, fiction, legends, fables and feelings. Screening all this objectively, pulling strings,  and drinking from the source,  has been the object of many highly qualified Brethren, thanks to whom we now have more light than 100 years ago.

By way of reflection, today we better understand that at the
time it became imperative, in the view of the Grand Orient of France, to regulate the existing ritualistic 'chaos' caused by the appearance of the higher mysteries that (perhaps) sought to maintain hegemonic dominance in certain groups, factors that contributed to a real and new initiatory experience.

Returning to the structural (not symbolic) simplicity of speculative Freemasonry (and I modestly think that adjective is valid also for the operative), the brothers of the Grand Orient of France at the time created an 'ordination' of existing procedural forms as well as by practicality, those other parallel processes of development in the Third Degree, or ways of working after reaching the Magisterium. And I say parallel in the fullest sense - not superior, although I "like" the term.

Maybe the key is to look - once again - in the proper sense of the Sublime degree as was raised at the time in French interpretation, in which the former Master's Word was replaced, but known, being the key of the degree of "mystical" experience "  (or psychic, conscience, mental, or call it what you will), thus completing the full progression without therefore needing further degrees, since everything has been said.

Some might argue the issue of the "Rule of Three ",  the divergence with the "Antient " (more modern), although we could always resort to collating the essence of English, Scottish, Irish and French Rites in bibliographical sources, minutes of Lodges, and rituals that we have today, surprising us with their very "great" similarities or connection points (as can not be otherwise).

Another step forward decided upon from the platform created through this rite,  was the "natural" and progressive acceptance of female initiation and recognition in our Order.

To this day, still entrenched in positions surprising for supposed freethinkers,  some are engaged in the defense of an outdated issue of the "male" initiatory ritual. So what if there are solar, active, phallic elements ... where's the "goodness " of enlightenment and initiatory reorganization"? Who measures the quality of individual personal life? How does one view  another's initiatory experience as pure or impure? How effective is the feminine procedure?

I only need raise these questions in the XXI century and I generate chill and discomfort from certain quarters.

The Grand Masonic Library of Galicia

Our good brother Victor Guerra is never lacking for energy. I'd love to have a tap and be able to bottle a little of it myself. Here is a synopsis of one of the interests he is currently turning himself toward, and it is a project that I think merits a great deal of support. I offer it in hopes that some might be inspired to support his efforts in at least some small manner.

The raids on masonic libraries by the Franco government during the Spanish Civil War, had a dramatic and negative impact on the documentary record of Spanish Freemasonry, and it has left Freemasons in Spain today lacking sources of study, especially on Masonry itself.

The summary of the library services requisitioned by the repression of the Franco Masonry in the Northwest Regional Grand Lodge in 1936 makes it clear what was the range of reading materials available to Masons of the first third of the century, so it was not in vain that Pedro Gonz·lez Blanco started to respond to these intellectual limits in Masonic with the publication of the magazine Latomia. ( In this respect shows the contents of the library of the Grand Lodge of the Northwest Regional in which several lodges which worked in Asturian)

But while this gap that is felt in the libraries of Masonic lodges can be excused by several factors such as lack of management, language differences, lack of books, it also was in part influenced by the currents of anti-masonic sentiments in society.

Years have passed, and still there is a saying that Masons do not read, at least not books on Freemasonry. This can be seen as a "quip" but it is not entirely false, seeing that what has been published in Spain since 1978 about Freemasonry, which is not much.

Today practically only three publishers consider printing Masonic books, Editorial Idea, with its collection of the square and compass and the publisher ATANOR, whose collection is also called square and compass, then there is only one publisher of totally Masonic character: MasonerÌa.Es , apart of course , the other publishing projects of Masonic foundations and structures themselves.

In an effort to partly mitigate this trend, the Brethren of the Grand Lodge of Spain from Galicia have put forward the idea of the Great Library of Masonry Galician. This is an ambitious project that aims to create a great documentary center of Masonry in Galicia (N.W. Spain).

The Galician Brothers GLE hope to count on the solidarity of all Brethren. scattered around the globe to create the first bibliographic Masonry Center in Galicia with donations of books and magazines on all Masonic themes. The project is designed in three main phases:

FIRST STAGE: Collection and storage of library materials donations from individual Masons or groups. They can store up to about 3000 volumes in the first stage. Please send any appropriately Masonic texts to Apartado de correos n∫ 33 de Barbad·s, Ourense, CP 32890, SPAIN .

Donors may write a dedication in the book, in their own handwriting to the Great Library Project of Masonry in Galicia, stating your full name or nickname, Lodge and Orient or GL where you belong.

As volumes are received, notice will be posted on the Masoneria Siglo XXI facebook site (at least for now) the securities received and the name or pseudonym of donors.

SECOND STAGE:
A Search for sponsorships (cofunding) for rent and refurbishment of premises in which to install and catalog no less that 3000 volumes, at which time they would be available to users and library members.
This will give the project an opportunity to post on several websites dedicated to cofunding, both in Spain and worldwide, and through this web page.

STAGE THREE:
Enrich as far as possible the bibliographic materials and consolidate over time this project with the help of volunteers and/or professionals in the field of document management and historical research for the recovery of bibliographic and documentary heritage of Galician Freemasonry.

The success of this project depends solely on its dissemination to all brethren. scattered around the world willing to see masonry flourish in this corner of Spain. Please donate a book (even if it is something you have duplicates of) and disseminate news pf this project to your contacts to ensure its success.

If within two years maximum we can not complete the second phase of the project, all books received will be donated to the symbolic lodges established in Galicia or to the Ar˙s Library of the city of Barcelona,

currently the only Spanish state Masonic library

An Outline of the Orders of Wisdom of the Modern Rite

I° Order, "Elect": from revenge to justice.

Avenging Hiram is the primary theme of the First Order of the modern rite, as it appears in the ritual of the late eighteenth century. Revenge does not reflect Masonic sentiments or values. However, justice must be exercised against the murderers of Hiram. Find, prosecute and punish the murderers of the Master is thus a better way of describing the theme of the first order. The first order is therefore essentially the subject of the arrival at the concept of justice. When justice reigns, then truth can be satisfied and peace may materialize: man's inner peace, peace in society, community, and on a larger scale peace among nations. In the first Order, the Mason works for the construction of justice in all domains.

II° Order, "Grand Elect": From the union of men to the unity of values

One of the objectives of Freemasonry is the work toward the realization of the union among men. But under the guise of virtue, the union can hide even opposing, contradictory objectives. The union may also be established for perverse motives: bad companions, the murderers of Hiram, succeeded in carrying out their crime because they were united. The union can only be fruitful when it strives to realize the unity of values, ie, working for the adoption of universal values, values raised by the masonic humanism. In the original rituals, this issue is illustrated by the pursuit of knowledge symbolized by a precious jewel that belonged to Hiram.

III° Order, "Knight Mason":  to fight and defend.

The rituals of origin we have here the reconstruction of the Temple of Salompon after the Babylonian exile. The Masons released by Cyro return to Jerusalem and rebuild the Temple, bringing the trowel in one hand and sword in the other. Two lessons are included: no construction is final and human history is summarized in a ternary ever: construction, destruction, reconstruction. therefore, the values  obtained are always threatened and should always be prepared to fight and defend.

IV° Order, "Perfect Free Mason" the release to fulfillment.

The apprentice mason work is enshrined in the fight that should engage a man to become emancipated, and therefore free. Freed from the obstacles imposed by nature hostile, also freed of the burdens set out in its own interior. This emancipation achieved, this freedom won, responds like an echo the teaching of the fourth order, dedicated to the development of man in a society whose structures and operating to allow the realization of this ideal. After having done the above steps, establish justice, work on the realization of the unity of values and rebuild, the mason can reach its full and full development in a just society and more perfect.

V° Order, "Knight of Wisdom": Reunion of the dispersed. Universality. which would include all degrees physical and metaphysical, and all systems, particularly those adopted by active Masonic associations.

Announcement of the 2012 Assembly of the GLSE

Announcement of the 2012 ASSEMBLY Ortஃ Valladolid

The Assembly for 2012 of the Symbolic Grand Lodge of Spain will be held on Saturday June 2, 2012 in Valladolid. The Ortஃ de Valladolid. RஃLஃ Indivisible no 51 will host the event.

Deputies are invited as representatives of the RஃRஃLஃLஃ and Brothers and Sisters of the GஃLஃSஃEஃ

Research Lodge Theorema No. 36

The Rஃ Lஃ Theorema No. 36 is constituted as a Lodge of Research within La Gran Logia Simbolíca Española (GLSE-GOEU) for the purpose of studying hermeneutics, semiotics and the psychological aspects of the Masonic Method, its iconography and rituals, as well as symbolism in general.

Also within their means and according to the needs of Spanish Freemasonry, Lodge Theorema aims to:

1. Develop and promote work in the field of history, sociology, philosophy, ethics and education, as contributions to Masonic thought.
2. Conduct studies on the condition of human life on the planet.
3. Conduct outreach and biographical studies of the life and work of Masons      who have attained the status of persons of interest or are role models as a result of their accomplishments.
4. Organizing Conferences, Seminars, Courses and Symposia on any of the matters referred to in the above points, and the
publication of Minutes and Papers on them.
5. Establish relations with other Research Lodges.
6. Constitute a Masonic library.

No Research Lodge meets regularly for ritual since most of the research work is performed by its members individually. No Research Lodge performs lodge initiations, and members must be people who are teachers in active Masons lodge elsewhere. However, Theorema will hold a meeting at least once a year and develop its work in the Aஃ Aஃ Sஃ Rஃ as the rite of the Grand Lodge with each brother or sister using the apron and the insignia of his home lodge.

The Rஃ Lஃ Theorema No. 36 adopted as its logo the Pythagorean theorem, which presents the development of the sides of a triangle into a square. These squares, in turn, are checkered black and white tiles. The hypotenuse is the base of the triangle, the lower leg is on the left and the higher on the right. The white squares of the square building on the lower leg are five in number and the hypotenuse of the twelve in number. At the bottom of this geometric construction is the word Theorema, written in Greek characters as well: Θεορεμα.
